This video from 1905 shows crowds rushing a store in New York as it opens, trying to get their hands on the latest flat screen cardboard box. You can almost hear a woman shout ‘Oh no you di-int!’

In great-grandma’s day, Black Friday was called Bargain Day and it was on a Saturday. Other than that, nothing has changed in 100 years.
